Is Mead more like beer or wine?
It’s more like beer and wine than most people think.
Mead is very different from other alcoholic beverages because it is made primarily from simple sugars and the alcohol comes from the yeast or yeast nutrient. This is unlike most spirits, which are made from a variety of different spirits and a variety of yeast.
The focus of the beverages in mead is on the “hops,” which are a type of botanical that is similar in flavor and aroma to hops in beer.
The wonderful maturation of hops in the environment around the beginning of the boil provides a lot of flavor and aroma. These aromas or flavors get infused into the mead.
